The Costa Foundation is the charitable branch of Costa Coffee, but raises all of its money from customer donations to carry out transformative work abroad. This film looks at how this extraordinary work is helping some of the world’s most disadvantaged children achieve a better foundation in their lives.
Motivated with a desire to give back to the communities that grow our coffee beans, the Foundation’s dedicated Store Champions have developed innovative ways to raise awareness and money for the vital work of the Foundation, building over 90 schools and 750 classrooms in 10 different countries across the world.
Despite the strain placed on collecting donations by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Costa Foundation is determined to involve customers even further in its journey, changing children’s education and ultimately their lives for the better.
Community Investment – The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
How does Sheldrick Wildlife Trust help orphaned elephants in Kenya? With a little help from friends, and a whole lot of love.
They say never to work with children or animals. With baby elephants being over-friendly (and boy do they push!) filming at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was no exception. Thankfully British Airways use their network of people, planes and goodwill to bring help to orphaned elephants in Kenya. It’s reassuring that large corporations can use their core skills to help more than just passengers.
An experience never to be forgotten.
BA Flying Start: The Ripple Effect
Two stories of two lives impacted by the ripple effect of Flying Start.
Working in partnership with Comic Relief and building on our understanding of British Airways’ brand requirements, we devised a concept for this Flying Start inflight fundraising film, based on capturing real interviews with the real change-makers of the future from two sides of the world. The premise of the film is to show how the ripple effect of our actions can have a wide-reaching impact.
This film was played 40 minutes before landing on all of British Airways’ mid- and long-haul flights.
Flying Start has raised over £25 million to date from inflight and colleague donations.
Annie Lennox & Mary’s Meals
Annie Lennox visits Mary's Meals at a school in Malawi.
In 2012, our creative director had the chance to spend a week in Malawi with Annie Lennox, as she went to visit some of the projects supported by her foundation, SING.
Mary’s Meals are a large NGO providing daily porridge to thousands of children across Africa. This allows them to concentrate and draws them to school, helping create brighter futures.
