Climate KIC, a leading European climate agency, asked us to create a film that captured their work with cities across Europe. With projects spanning more than 40 cities and a wide range of focus areas, we distilled their impact into a single case study that shows how they help cities become more resilient to climate change while improving everyday life for citizens.

We directed and produced the film from our London offices, working with a remote crew and editor. The brief was clear: create a piece that was both informative and immersive, transporting viewers into the heart of Lisbon while bringing Climate KIC’s work to life.

As part of the Catalyst Initiative led by Climate KIC, we produced a two-year impact film reflecting on the legacy of Climathon across Latin America and West Africa. The film steps back from individual events to explore what has grown over time: local climate-innovation ecosystem, and a new generation of innovators finding their voice and community.

Grounded in interviews and driven by data-led storytelling, the film brings two regions together in a shared narrative of collaboration and measurable climate impact. Participants described the programme as life-changing, and witnessing everyone’s passion for tackling climate challenges at a community level left us deeply inspired.

Notice the use of graphics to amplify the messaging and make best of use of limited footage filmed by the delegates themselves across the world.

We created three language versions (English, French, Spanish) to give the films the widest reach possible.

LATAM Climathon Sustainability:

The EU’s Climate KIC team wanted to capture the remarkable work in seeding sustainability ideas thanks to their Climathons, run across the globe. This one features the LATAM region.

So we sent out a filming brief document to teams across Latin America and West Africa with filming guidelines in order to grab a snapshot of what went on in 27 countries!

As with all user-generated content the material we got back was of mixed quality. So we devised a graphical format and a pacing for the films that soon turned raw amateur footage in to a compelling argument for why people should attend these remarkable events.

As part of Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Green Innovator, we created this two-minute film to capture the energy and impact of local climate innovation in the borough. Filmed across workshops and the final Pitch Night at Scale Space in White City, the film follows five participants as they develop and present ideas tackling challenges from energy and circularity to transport and nature.

Rather than over-scripted interviews, we focused on live moments; pitches delivered on stage, and reflections and reactions immediately after the awards. We allowed the story to unfold in real time. Through centering diverse founders and first-time innovators, the film highlights the power of social modelling and representation, showing that climate action really can come from anyone.

The client praised how the film captured the buzz, tension and excitement in the room.

Along with this hero film we delivered three portrait shorts for social media.

It has since been used to celebrate grassroots innovation, and showcase the borough as a growing hub for green enterprise.

Biodiversity and access & benefit sharing expert Bupe Mwambingu from Basecamp Research reached out just a few days before flying to the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15).

As a purpose-driven organisation in service of a thriving future for our planet, we jumped on the opportunity to satisfy our curiosity and better understand one of COP’s hottest issues.

With no brief but a fascinating interview, we decided to apply our formula of truth & magic to building a short story from Bupe’s best soundbites and relevant b-roll footage, plus some well-chosen music, to make it relatable and increase its emotional power.

This film looks at the success in overcoming a crippling disease that has besieged Nigeria, and large parts of Africa for decades. Onchocerciasis, commonly known as river blindness causes unbearable itching and ultimately blindness to the point where river-side communities were abandoned.

Thanks to the dedication of people like Nasarawa State Coordinator for Neglected Tropical Diseases, Jacob Righain, the support of NGO partners The Carter Center and donation of the treating drug Mectizan by Merck & Co., local communities have been empowered to break the transmission of river blindness and create a platform for future disease interventions.

Filmed just before the COVID-19 lockdown kicked in, we worked with a talented Nigerian crew to get right to the heart of the story. We edited back in the UK and created a bespoke soundtrack to help transport the viewer deeper into the world of neglected tropical diseases.

It forms part of a wider suite of films used in different ways that have told the Mectizan Donation Program story over the years, collaborating with multiple global partners from the Nigerian Ministry of Health and local government, to Sightsavers, the Carter Center and other key players in the game to get full engagement from the offset.
