The Big Walk: An Emotional Homecoming

Jude Boutie is one of a kind in her drive, passion and humanity. So telling her story was a pleasure for us as there was loads of drama and emotion to capture.

Working with zero30 Media, our team covered this high-profile event over a three-week multi-location shoot taking in The Big Walk in 4 different UK counties. In total we produced 5 hours of high-quality films which featured on prime-time slots on BBC News at Ten and live on The One Show, as well as specially-produced social media edits.

The Big Walk: Community and Cake

Across 21 days in May and June 2016, 13 people from diverse walks of life came together for annual The Great Big Walk organised by Eden Project Communities.

Separated into 5 teams, each team walked from the Leeds to Sth Cornwall, Cardiff (Wales), Belfast (Ireland), London and Edinburgh (Scotland). At a time when public opinion has been polarised in dramatic ways, this mass-participatory event celebrated the idea that we have more in common than divides us. We were on hand to document an inclusive and inspiring stroll.

In this film, “unsung heroes” from the local community and participants from The Great Big Walk meet up at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage HQ in Axminster. Having laid on tea and a selection of cakes to make Mary Berry green with envy, the genial host shares his thoughts on why the gentle art of walking and talking makes perfect sense.
