Deluxe Coffeeworks London

Capturing the unique spirit of a vibrant local independent business in a short film of 1 minute is no mean feat – but with this film for Deluxe Coffeeworks London, we think we nailed it.

Providing Londoners with a warm welcome and superb daily-roasted coffee, Deluxe Coffeeworks are a South African coffee shop group who opened up a London shop and roastery in 2022.

Being newcomers to the London coffee scene, the business was looking to communicate the uncompromising quality of the coffee and the chilled open vibe, so iconic of Cape Town. The film is the result of our team’s tour of the roastery, and in depth interviews with the founders, and some of their customers.

Created for social media, this is an example of how our approach to film production combines truth and magic to create an impactful profile piece that captures the spirit and ethos of a brand. By capturing the character of the team that have built this fresh brand’s profile in the London area, we were able to craft a snapshot that communicates the spirit and energy of what we consider London’s best coffeeshop and roastery.

Join the Intelligence Revolution

Our event opening film for FICO World 2023 in Florida which put the focus on the visionary changemakers that have driven intelligence revolutions in history.

Created using stock shots, stills, animations and a voice over, the film debuted to a fantastic response from over 1500 delegates gathered at one of the world’s largest gatherings of data science and business innovation experts.

In the words of FICO CMO, Nikhil Behl: “I get chills every time I watch this video!”

Breaking the Bias

When we create films, we always strive to humanise the story, by getting to the heart of the matter – and in this case, there was a very compelling backstory that deserved to be told.

Launched in the 1960s, the introduction of FICO’s credit scoring was a game changer that helped level the playing field for women when it came to accessing loans for homes and cars. This was a fascinating journey into how the company was instrumental in breaking the bias of the past, and a powerful and inspiring message to capture on film. Films that deal with addressing fairness strike a particular chord for us given it plays a pivotal role in our company ethos.

The Anatomy of Implementation

Software implementation might not sound exciting, but the people who make it happen certainly are!

We spent a couple of days bedding down with some of the world’s brightest programmers to see what it takes to get complex software that can decide people’s financial outcomes to run flawlessly on multi-million pound financial platforms. The result is this candid look into the world of C&R Software, which reveals how their team’s dedication and use of innovation have enabled an impeccable track record of delivery of software implementation.

As a showcase of company culture, this was a great opportunity to capture the passion of their team when describing this important part of what defines them as a business.

Role of Public Health Informatics

When it comes to making films for our clients, getting to the heart of what makes them tick plays a central role within the narrative, helping us communicate the essence of what they do.

Fronted by the Public Health Informatics Institute‘s Executive Director, Vivian Singletary, this film delves deep into the company’s purpose whilst explaining their role in providing access to health informatics (the study of methods that help process & distribute patient data) so that public health professionals can improve lives.

FICO Q&A chats

Lack of travel during the pandemic forced us to develop new ways of working and with great success: accessibility and speed gave rise to a whole new way of delivering content, redefining the way our clients could communicate.

When using a crew wasn’t feasible, we had to come up with a way of creating content that was more engaging than the typical video call apps. With this in mind, we created these 2-way chats, recorded using Riverside. The result was these FICO Q&A Chats, which brought people together, even when apart.

The platform proved extremely useful in providing great industry insights which served as powerful assets that form part of an employer brand strategy. In fact they’ve become so popular that other clients have started to commission us to make these videos when budgets are tighter and fast turnarounds are needed.

The Age of Applied Intelligence

This film quite literally kicked off FICO World ’22 with a bang (watch it and you’ll understand why!). Telling the story of how revolutions throughout history have been a positive force for change with ‘Applied Intelligence’ (think of it as AI 2.0) being the most recent.

This film was created using voiceover, stock shots, sound design and graphics. The production had an international flavour using a graphics animator and voice over artist in South Africa, script writer in London and editor in the US.

Digital Jane: Consumer Perspective

Understanding how technology works is important, but the impact it has on all of us is possibly its greatest selling point. Digital Jane was a series created for FICO that helps customers understand the capabilities of their technology from the consumer perspective.

Using stock shots, we created a fictitious character, telling her story in a series of 6 chapters that explain how banks, insurance companies and 3rd party retailers can best interact with customers when and where it matters. The response was so positive, FICO have used them to show their own engineers the fruits of their labour.

This series now enjoys pride of place on the FICO website.

W1N as one

It’s amazing what can be done with remote Riverside meeting links and some good production these days.

Working with our resident in-house producer, Nat Low, we captured the winning spirit that drives FICO‘s salesforce, to be shown at an all-staff event.

Video wall films

Empathy is a powerful tool in production, and highlighting challenges that you know your customers face helps draw them in.

We had a lot of fun working with FICO creating these short clips that could be used at trade fairs to entice a more serious conversation on their stands. We may have taken some inspiration from Bob Dylan
