Hammersmith & Fulham Council

Hammersmith & Fulham Council in London has created an ambitious target of creating a carbon net zero borough by 2030. Their plan is to enable the local community to take climate action together.
The council wanted to partner with a team that had a proven track record in sustainability storytelling. Thankfully, local resident and our Head of Development, Katia Hérault, has experience in creating films for the council’s green efforts. So when they asked us to help them gather support for their new green financial initiative, we stepped up with enthusiasm. Many of our team members live in Hammersmith & Fulham, so we loved the ‘keep it local’ focus. Above all, the project aligned with our ‘People, Purpose, Planet’ ethos, so it instantly became close to our hearts.
We’re pleased to share that as of 8th February 2024, the first funding round in the Green Investment scheme closed as it had reached its target ahead of schedule, thanks in part to our films promoting investment in green infrastructure. Congratulations go out to the council’s team!

As part of a series we initiated for Hammersmith and Fulham council, articulating what their ethos of Stronger, Safer, Kinder, we made this standalone film for Meanwhile Gardens. When we arrived on a hot summer’s day, and had a beautiful interview spot lined up to speak to Anne MacAlpine-Leny, she told us she didn’t feel comfortable with such a formal setup. So instead we put a radio microphone on her and followed her round the garden as she went about her daily duties, capturing the story as it unfolded.
The film, funded by the Council, has been invaluable for the charity in raising awareness and funds, and has had to full endorsement of Councillor Umeh who thought it perfectly captures the power of LBHF to create a more inclusive, kinder borough.

As part of Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Green Innovator, we created this two-minute film to capture the energy and impact of local climate innovation in the borough. Filmed across workshops and the final Pitch Night at Scale Space in White City, the film follows five participants as they develop and present ideas tackling challenges from energy and circularity to transport and nature.
Rather than over-scripted interviews, we focused on live moments; pitches delivered on stage, and reflections and reactions immediately after the awards. We allowed the story to unfold in real time. Through centering diverse founders and first-time innovators, the film highlights the power of social modelling and representation, showing that climate action really can come from anyone.
The client praised how the film captured the buzz, tension and excitement in the room.
Along with this hero film we delivered three portrait shorts for social media.
It has since been used to celebrate grassroots innovation, and showcase the borough as a growing hub for green enterprise.

In response to a brief on “No Place For Hate” we undertook the task to speak to 12 religious leaders in our local borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, and ask them about what we share in common at a time of religious wars and division.
With only two days to conduct interviews around the borough, we took to a cargo-bike with our film-crew and asked contributors to throw away their pre-prepared scripts in favour of honest conversation.
This series was the first on our journey with the borough who have seen the light on our formula for authentic storytelling – bringing out natural, heartfelt answers that build trust and inspire.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council asked us to produce a film supporting their new Hammersmith & Fulham Climate Bond film initiative. It’s designed to engage the local community in funding ecological projects. The client wanted a compelling story that explained benefits, encouraged participation, and showcased the council’s ambitious target of creating a carbon net zero borough by 2030.
Our brief was to make the content engaging, informative, and shareable while reflecting the council’s environmental values. To meet this, we created a film that highlighted how residents, local groups, businesses, and external investors could make a direct impact in their community while earning a fixed return on a low-risk investment. We emphasised the positive outcomes of the Climate Bond, demonstrating how the funds would support carbon reduction projects and foster community-led climate action. Sustainability was central to the production. We meticulously tracked and reduced emissions at every stage using the Ad Green Calculator. The team cycled to shoots, used an e-cargo bike for travelling footage, ate vegetarian meals on set, and powered our office with certified renewable energy.
This resulted in a total production footprint of just 0.018t CO2e—far below the industry average—reflecting our commitment to environmentally responsible filmmaking. The film played a key role in raising awareness and funding. The first round of the Climate Bond exceeded expectations, reaching £1 million ahead of schedule. The success of this campaign underlined the power of film to communicate complex initiatives, inspire community participation, and reinforce the council’s commitment to sustainability. The project continues to support the second round of funding, demonstrating the enduring value of strategic, purpose-driven video content in promoting climate action and civic engagement.

Aiming to raise £5million over the next few years is the most ambitious target ever set by a local authority. But that’s what Hammersmith & Fulham Council in London has embarked on, to create a carbon net zero borough by 2030.
To help the council reach as many people as possible, we were brought on board to create a short film. This film unpacks their Green Investment climate bond initiative, and to provide additional visibility, we offered three impactful social media edits for their various channels.
Keeping it short, sweet and punchy, this is one of the three social clips being rolled out to the council’s audience of local residents and interested parties. By distilling the key messaging down to its salient points and using some eye-catching techniques – and a selection of pacy music that communicates energy and tone – our 30-second edits grab attention whilst delivering a clear call to action.
About the Hammersmith & Fulham Green Investment initiative
This new investment opportunity will allow the local community to fund climate and ecological projects in Hammersmith & Fulham. The green scheme aims to raise up to £5 million over the next few years, and will allow local groups, residents and businesses – as well as external investors – an opportunity to make a direct impact in the community. The funding will enable the borough council to reduce carbon emissions and, and investors to earn a fixed return on their low-risk investment. It’s a win-win-win, and one we’re proud to be involved with.

As part of a 12-part social series for Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Interfaith Week, this film features Ven. Seewalimala, a Buddhist monk, who reflects on the shared practices that connect different religions. He highlights meditation and silence as universal elements that transcend boundaries and foster inner peace. Ven. Seewalimala also shares his gratitude for the deep respect he has received from the local community, where he has lived and served for over 30 years.
Filmed across two days, we cycled through the borough to meet faith leaders in temples, mosques, and churches, capturing their unique perspectives on interfaith and community togetherness. The series combines these insightful interviews with b-roll of local landmarks to celebrate the rich diversity of the area. Working sustainably and immersing ourselves in these meaningful conversations was an enriching experience that left us inspired.
The resulting series is a testament to the power of interfaith harmony, showcasing leaders like Ven. Seewalimala, whose wisdom reminds us that shared values and practices can unite us in mutual respect. This project resonates deeply with our commitment to community, diversity, and the shared humanity that connects us all.

“Cloud 9 were the perfect fit for our campaign… We set out to put a face to local climate action in H&F – and Katia, Steve, Jack and the rest of the team exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to work with them again in the – hopefully near – future.”
